Google to add your emails into your search results

Google are usually adding new elements into search, trying to make it smarter (just in case two more men in a garage come along to steal their crown!).

Their latest experiment is that it’s allowing some users to sign up to see emails from their Gmail accounts within search results on the Web.

That’s an interesting one. My first response was to ridicule….but they don’t usually do things without thinking. Is it a good idea?

I know google smart search (or whatever its called this week) tailors your results to the kind of stuff you usually click through to…but what I really want is a second page of ‘pages you viewed in the last 3/6/12 months that match this search’. My most overused phrase is “I read somewhere that…” :)

Yep, me too. I’m usually desperately trying to remember what search term I used to find that really useful research doc that I forgot to save!
